Even the “hottest” news lasts no more than three days. Elections in Iraq, accompanied by explosions, wiped out from the headlines of world media Resolution 252 on the Armenian Genocide. As always, Armenians found themselves caught up in captivity of false ‘truths’ and illusions. Sometimes it even seems that all the “theoretical bases” for the legitimacy of claims of the Armenian people on certain territories are made up for two basic reasons. The first reason, unfortunately, is self-advertisement of the author of just another unreal idea. The second reason is further leaving in dark the Armenian people about the possible normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. Both of them are a crime against a nation...

Last week, the internal political life in Armenia has been very active. On March 1, Monday, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) coordinator Levon Zurabyan addressing a rally in Yerevan on behalf of ANC voiced six steps to get out of the ‘March crisis’. According to Levon Zurabyan , those steps should be implemented before the next meeting of the PACE Monitoring Committee. "First of all, it is necessary to release all political prisoners, the second, to recover until April an independent body investigating killings on March 1 and 2. Third, to review the law on holding rallies and marches in April and re-shape it. The fourth, to open the A1 + TV station by May, the fifth, to reform the Armenia’s electoral code by late May and the seventh – to hold early parliamentary and presidential elections between June and September, " Levon Zurabyan said. The Congress will present these issues to the Council of Europe representatives on March 16 in Armenia...

Voting in the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs is now over. As expected, the Resolution is approved, Diaspora is more or less satisfied, political analysts and experts have spoken on the subject. Whether it will come to voting in the House or not depends on the further behavior of Turkey. If Ankara is able to strike an attitude and turn the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq into a big problem, U.S. administration will immediately retrace its steps. On the other hand, the assumption that Turkey would gamble on the air base Incirlik was justified even without the resolution. If you add to this also the "threat" to freeze normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, it becomes clear that Ankara goes for broke, realizing that every year the imputation of genocide is going to become more evident...

It has become a tradition for Turkey to begin a fight against United States’ recognition of the Armenian Genocide every year before April 24. She may succeed this time too, taking into consideration the fact that existence of the Turkish state depends on recognition or non-recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
